How to clean a tumble dryer condenser

A clogged condenser stops a condenser or heat pump dryer drying effectively and can lead to overheating.

15 minutesEasy

Heat pump dryers contain a sealed system; only clean the parts the manual says are user-serviceable.

What you'll need

  • Soft brush
  • Bowl
  • Hose or shower

Step by step

  1. 1

Unplug the dryer and let it cool.

  2. 2

Remove the condenser cover/drawer and unclip the condenser.

  3. 3

Rinse it under running water and wash out the lint.

  4. 4

    Clean around the condenser housing.

  5. 5

Replace it, making sure it clips in tightly.

Tips

  • Clean the filter after every load and empty the water tank each time.
